Send chatbot leads to NetSuite

A customer, a contact or an opportunity, through SuiteTalk REST

A lead from the chat becomes a NetSuite record: a customer at lead stage, a contact, or an opportunity. The fields come from the record type's own schema, so what the mapper offers is what your account will accept.

What it does

Signed, not bearer

NetSuite's token-based authentication signs every request rather than carrying a token. Five values, created once inside NetSuite, and nothing that expires on a timer.

The record's own schema

The mapper reads the metadata catalog, so it offers the fields that record type has -- yours included -- and leaves out the ones that want another record's id.

Sandbox accounts too

A sandbox id looks like 1234567_SB1 and answers on its own host. The connection works that out from the account id rather than asking twice.

How to connect it

Read the full guide
  1. 1

    Enable the features

Token-based authentication and REST web services, both under Setup, Company, Enable Features.

  2. 2

    Create an integration record

With token-based authentication ticked. The consumer key and secret are shown once.

  3. 3

    Issue an access token

For the role that will create the records. The token id and secret are also shown once.

  4. 4

    Connect NetSuite

Paste the account id and the four values. We verify with one read, which proves the signature and the role together.

Questions people ask

Which role should the token use?

One that may create the record type you pick. NetSuite answers a role without that permission with a permission error rather than naming the role, so it is worth deciding before rather than after.

Is token-based authentication going away?

For new integrations on REST web services, yes: Oracle's documentation says none can be created from 2027.1, and existing ones keep working. A connection made today is unaffected; a new one after that release will need OAuth 2.0.

Can it create a lead specifically?

In NetSuite a lead is a customer at an early stage, not a separate record type. Creating a customer is creating the lead.

Does it write to custom records?

Not yet. The three curated types cover what a chat produces; custom record types are on the list.
