# Referrals > How the 10% works, how to send a link, what the buyer sees, when you get paid, and what access you get. Source: https://welcomeai.dev/docs/referrals Category: Account Updated: 2026-09-06 --- You earn 10% of every plan bought through one of your links, every month that workspace keeps paying. It is not a one-off: the share arrives with each of their renewals and stops when they stop. Ten percent of the plan they are on, whichever that is -- the prices are on the pricing page, and the share follows them. ## Sending a link Referrals is on the sidebar under Account. Create a link, name it, and pick the plan it opens. A link looks like this: ``` https://app.welcomeai.dev/your-workspace/billing/c/6kk3eiuy7w82 ``` The code is twelve characters and the address says nothing about referrals or promotions -- it is a payment page and reads like one. Every link carries a plan, chosen when you create it, and the person who opens it sees that plan already selected with the price on the page. Name one per campaign and you can see which one brought which signup: the list shows clicks, signups and the conversion rate for each. You can copy the link, or send it from the app: enter an address and WelcomeAI sends the payment page with your workspace name on it. **Rotating** a code replaces it with a new one and the old address stops working. Referrals already made through it are unaffected -- you keep earning from them. Rotate when a link has been published somewhere you no longer control. **Revoking** stops the address for good. ## What the buyer sees One page: the plan, the price, what it includes, and that you sent them. They give an email, type it again to confirm it, name their workspace, and pay. Nothing about your side of the arrangement is on it, and the price is the normal price -- your 10% comes out of what WelcomeAI keeps, not out of what they pay. Their email becomes their account, so there is no invitation to accept afterwards and no password to agree on. After paying they get a sign-in link. Their account and their workspace are created only when the payment confirms. Somebody who opens the link and changes their mind leaves nothing behind. ## Access to their workspace On the payment page, and again after paying, the buyer is asked one question: whether to let you into the workspace they just bought. If they say yes, you are added the moment they finish. The access you get is a role of its own, not a promotion. You can do the setup work: upload documents, build knowledge bases, install and theme widgets, connect integrations, invite and remove people. You **cannot** see or change billing, change the plan, download their invoices, rename or delete the workspace, open their account settings, or create an API key. Everything you do is in their audit log with your name on it. The workspace appears in your workspace switcher, marked as referral access, and it does not use one of their seats. They can revoke it at any time from their Team page, and you are emailed when they do. Revoking does not change your 10%. If they say no, you get the referral and the share, and no access. You can still ask them for a normal invitation later. ## Getting paid Every month a referred workspace pays, your share is added to your referral balance. A share is recorded against the invoice they actually paid, so a prorated or partial period pays 10% of what was really charged. Payouts run on the first of the month for every balance **above $500.00**. Under that, the balance carries over -- nothing is lost, it simply waits. The Referrals page shows the balance against that minimum, so you can always see how close it is. Payment goes through Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record, to the account you set in Referrals → Payout details. Set it before your first payout or the balance keeps waiting. Your Referrals page separates three numbers, because they are three different things: - **Pending** -- earned, not settled yet. - **Approved** -- counts towards the next payout. - **Paid to date** -- already sent to you. ## What stops a share A share stops when their subscription stops: cancelled, expired, or past due until the payment recovers. A workspace that downgrades pays you 10% of the new plan from its next renewal. Refunds reverse the share they generated -- the record stays, so you can see why the balance moved. You do not earn from your own workspaces, and buying through your own link does not count.
