# Send leads to Account Engagement (Pardot) > A chat lead becomes a prospect in the Account Engagement business unit you name. Source: https://welcomeai.dev/docs/pardot Category: Destinations Updated: 2026-09-11 --- Account Engagement -- the product that was Pardot -- logs in through Salesforce. If you have already connected Salesforce, the consumer key, secret and refresh token are the same ones. ## What you need Four values from your **Salesforce connected app**, with the `pardot_api` scope on it: the consumer key, the consumer secret, a refresh token, and whether it is production or a sandbox. And one more that is only for this: the **business unit id**. ## The business unit id, and why it is asked for It is the 18-character id of the tenant, from Salesforce Setup, *Account Engagement Setup*, *Business Unit Setup*. It is asked for explicitly, and its length is checked on the form, because of how the API fails without it. Sent with no business unit header, a perfectly good token is refused with: ``` 401 {"code":49,"message":"Access Denied"} ``` which reads like a credential problem and is not. Sent with the 15-character id Salesforce shows in some URLs, it is refused again, this time with a message that does say what is wrong: ``` 400 Value in Pardot-Business-Unit-Id header is not valid. Expected the 18 character ID of the tenant. ``` Checking it on the connect screen turns both of those into a sentence you can act on before anything is saved. ## Connect and route 1. In **Destinations**, connect Account Engagement with the five values. 2. The object is **Prospect** -- the only thing a chat lead becomes here. 3. Create a **route** and map the fields. ## What gets sent The standard prospect fields -- email, first and last name, company, job title, phone, website, address, comments, source -- plus **your custom fields**, read from the account and offered by their API name. **The email address is required.** Account Engagement identifies a prospect by it; a prospect without one is not a prospect. ## What it does not do It creates a prospect. It does not add it to a list, and it does not update one that already exists. List membership is a second call and a second decision -- which list, and when -- and Account Engagement reconciles an address it already knows on its own side.
